The new Xiaomi speaker is mini, attaches to the phone and costs next to nothing

Xiaomi brings to the Chinese market its new magnetic Bluetooth speaker, a small 95-gram speaker designed to attach to the back of the smartphone: when attached to the phone it powers on automatically, and goes into standby mode as soon as it is detached.

The product hits the market after a successful crowdfunding campaign, and is now available for sale in China at a launch price of 149 yuan (about €19), which will rise to 199 yuan (about €25) at the end of the promotion.

The mini speaker includes a 1.5″ full-range driver with an output power of 3W, support for audio codecs AAC and SBC, and a 650 mAh battery that guarantees about four hours of continuous playback.

Charging is via USB-C while on the connectivity front the speaker uses Bluetooth 6.0 and supports TWS stereo pairing with a second unit, as well as a multi-speaker connection that can involve up to 10 units simultaneously.

The magnetic attachment works directly with iPhone 12 and newer models, while for Android smartphones a magnetic ring is included to apply to the device to ensure compatibility.

The speaker also includes a folding metal ring that acts as a stand for the phone in both horizontal and vertical orientations. Completing the package are the IP67 certification for water and dust resistance and a RGB light ring on the base of the speaker, which reacts to the music being played.

Colors and availability

The Xiaomi magnetic Bluetooth speaker is available in dark gray and black. The launch promotion at 149 yuan remains valid for the entire month of September 2026, after which the price will return to 199 yuan (about €25 at the current exchange rate).

As of now the product is available only on the Chinese market: Xiaomi has not yet announced a global launch, but it remains a gadget to keep an eye on.
