Xiaomi, through the brand Mijia, expands its smart home appliance catalog with a new mini dual-drum washer-dryer of 5 kg capacity, designed for those who have little space at home but don’t want to give up washing and drying quickly.
The new appliance is available on preorder but unfortunately only in China: it remains a solution that could tempt Western users as well, and given Xiaomi’s expansion (with the launch in Italy of various major appliances) it’s good to keep an eye on any interesting updates!
Regarding the features of the latest addition to Xiaomi’s smart home ecosystem, the dual-drum design allows managing two laundry loads independently: the overall washing capacity is 5 kg, divided into two drums of 2.5 kg each, while the drying capacity is 3 kg total, equal to 1.5 kg per drum.
Each drum has a diameter of 255 mm and is powered by a direct-drive motor with a maximum speed of 1,200 rpm.
Among the main features is a quick wash-and-dry cycle of 40 minutes, designed for small items and light loads. The washer-dryer also includes 34 washing programs tailored for different stains, and two independent detergent dispensers of 150 ml each, with automatic dosing.
For drying, the system operates at a low temperature (40°C) supported by dedicated sensors, to reduce wear on fabrics. There is also a drum cleaning mode at 95°C, with a stated bacterial removal rate of 99.99%.
The device includes a ventilation system designed to prevent the formation of bad odors, useful when clothes are left inside the drum overnight.
The washer-dryer integrates with the Mi Home app and with the HyperOS ecosystem, enabling remote control and program management via smartphone. Dimensions are 598 x 574 x 478 mm, for a total weight of 41 kg.
The product is currently available only on preorder on the Chinese market via JD, at a price of 3,499 yuan (about €448 at the current exchange rate). As usual, there are no indications of a global launch or timelines for other markets, so we await any updates.
