The Chinese company is preparing yet another novelty for its product line, but this time it’s not a new smartphone; rather, it’s an addition to the audio range. The Redmi Headphones Neo will be the first over-ear headphones made by Xiaomi, and a particularly competitive price is anticipated — to rival the giants of the category.
Xiaomi has an extensive catalog of audio devices, but they are limited to compact and affordable TWS (though with various price ranges). The only exception is represented by the open-ear model, also available in Italy.
However, the catalog will soon expand with the Redmi Headphones Neo: Xiaomi is preparing to explore the over-ear format with a pair of headphones featuring a comfortable earcup design, weighing 410 grams and the IP54 rating against dust and splashes.
Based on what has emerged thanks to online retailers, there will be at least two colors at launch, namely Obsidian Black and Sand White. There would also be the Mist Blue variant, but the debut should occur later — apparently in September.
The headphones are expected to feature 40 mm dynamic drivers with a titanium-coated diaphragm and three microphones for voice isolation (enhanced with the aid of artificial intelligence).
The device would also offer the active noise cancellation ANC up to 42 dB, with three levels of intensity and two external microphones. Connectivity would be provided by Bluetooth 5.4, with the ability to connect two devices simultaneously. There would also be a 3.5 mm mini-jack input and a USB-C port.
Finally the power section: according to online stores the Redmi Headphones Neo would have a 500 mAh battery, with a two-hour recharge and an autonomy of around 72 hours with active noise cancellation.
The new Xiaomi and Redmi over-ear headphones have appeared at various Indian retailers, and the price is expected to be around €50 at the current exchange rate. However there is not yet a launch date, although given the amount of detail it’s likely the new product will see daylight soon.
