Xiaomi 18 Pro and Pro Max, the date is set: arriving in September with a privacy display

The Lei Jun’s company has set the date for presenting the Xiaomi 18 Pro series in China: the event will be held on September 23. A few days before the launch, the company has already officially confirmed some of the flagship features, while other details still come from unconfirmed rumors.

In short, taken together, we now have a fairly clear overview of what to expect from the new devices in the family.

Xiaomi 18 Pro and Pro Max, official presentation date (in China): the confirmed new features

The flagship feature is the new Super Pixel 2.0, which Xiaomi describes as a combination of flagship-level image quality and built-in privacy protection directly at the hardware level.

The panel adopts the M11 luminescent system with a new green material, capable of improving light efficiency by 20% and reaching a maximum brightness of 4,000 nits, with a full RGB layout that would maintain pixel sharpness without compromises.

The privacy feature is called Smart Privacy Display, and yes, it is similar to the technology of Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra: once activated, the screen darkens when viewed from a side angle.

It also allows creating groups of apps with different rules, automatically enabling protection when handling sensitive content such as passwords, payments or messages.

On the design front, Xiaomi has confirmed a flat unibody chassis designed to improve ergonomics, with screen bezels reduced to just 0.99 mm.

The series will be available in three colors: black, white, and a new Starry Blue, with a glittery effect that recalls the starry sky. As planned, the back houses the additional rear screen, designed to host AI-generated mini apps and customizable features.

Rumors so far

Besides the official details, leaks would add other pieces. Both models would feature a 2-nanometer chipset, plausibly the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, and a Leica dual-sensor 200 MP camera system (main and periscope telephoto with 3.2x zoom), along with an ultra-wide camera.

On the battery front, the Xiaomi 18 Pro would boast a 7,000 mAh solution, while the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max would rise to 8,500 mAh, both based on silicon-carbon technology, with a silicon content of 32%. The 3C certification would also indicate 100W wired charging for the lineup.
