The Hisense brand is known in Italy mainly for its smart TVs and appliances, but in other markets the company also distributes phones. The brand’s specialty is smartphones with e-ink display and the upcoming release is presented as a perfect solution for those who love reading but don’t want to give up the benefits of a color LCD screen.

Hisense A10 presents an unusual 2-in-1 configuration: e-ink in front, removable LCD at the back

The new Hisense A10 does not yet have a launch date but is coming to China soon. Its peculiarity is the configuration of a double display: the main panel is a 6.13-inch e-ink diagonal, able to replicate the feel of paper and provide the utmost reading comfort.

On the back you can magnetically attach a removable LCD screen: the approach is similar to that of BigMe HiBreak Dual, but the Hisense model allows you to choose whether to keep or remove the rear display. The latter is in color and can be used without any limitation, therefore for images and comics as well as all the usual smartphone features.

In fact, as specified, it’s not an e-book reader but a real phone, with Android 16, a Qualcomm octa-core chipset on a 4 nm process, 5G connectivity and WiFi 6.

The launch in China is expected by the end of August, and it seems to be priced around 3,999 yuan (about €512 at the current exchange rate). There are no details on the international release yet, at least for the moment.

Ahead of its debut, the Hisense A10 has been captured in a slew of leaked images showing the two screens in action (you can find them inside the article).

The transition from e-ink mode to LCD mode can occur in three ways: via the physical button Ink Smart Key, with a switch in the quick settings, or through a button on the Quick Ball.

According to what has emerged, the e-ink panel is managed by an autonomous TCON T2000 chip while the whole thing would be driven by the SoC Qualcomm QCM6690 (related to the Dragonwing Q-6690 series), i.e., a solution for enterprise devices.

Among other features, we find NFC, an infrared sensor, and support for magnetic wireless charging.
