Xiaomi XRING O3 to debut with Xiaomi 18 Fold, here’s how powerful it will be

Xiaomi has officially unveiled details of its new high-end mobile processor, known as XRING 03. This SoC, built on a 3 nm process, is set to power the brand’s next foldable smartphone, the Xiaomi 18 Fold or Xiaomi MIX 5, coming to market next month.

The shared technical specifications show a remarkable leap forward in terms of power, graphics processing, and artificial intelligence capabilities.

The data shared by the company indicate a product capable of fierce competition and, on paper, of surpassing some of the competition’s solutions.

Xiaomi XRING O3 is incredibly powerful, the company reveals its details

Xiaomi 17T Pro

The new XRING 03 is based on a deca-core CPU architecture capable of reaching peak frequencies of up to 4.35 GHz. The company confirmed an asymmetric compute core arrangement, consisting of 6 “super” cores and 4 “large” cores.

Compared with the previous generation, represented by the XRING 01, this new component offers a CPU performance increase of 60%, while reducing energy consumption by 25%.

Supporting operations is a dual SME2 acceleration unit, a key addition to rapidly handle AI workloads that are not yet perfectly optimized for the neural processing unit.

On the graphics side, the processor includes a new Arm G2-Ultra NX GPU with 16 cores and as many as 8 NX neural accelerators. The claimed improvements over the past are substantial: overall graphics speed increases by 85%, energy efficiency improves by 64%, and ray tracing performance jumps by 182%.

Artificial Intelligence and Multimedia

The local data processing represents another pillar of the new processor, which includes a 4-core NPU capable of delivering neural network performance up to 45% higher. The tensor computing power reaches 200 TOPS, paired with 3.3 teraflops of vector processing.

These are very high numbers, well above the 100 TOPS offered by current market alternatives. The hardware also supports the new LPDDR6 RAM, ensuring extremely fast data transfers between the various smartphone modules.

Also the multimedia capabilities reach a higher level, thanks to compatibility with single photographic sensors capable of shooting images up to 432 MP. This figure surpasses the 320 MP limit imposed by current counterparts from other semiconductor companies, giving smartphone manufacturers more room to maneuver for future camera modules.

As for video management, the chip fully supports the H.266 decoding (also known as VVC), a technology that returns ultra-high-quality videos while keeping file sizes small, aligning with the recent native support introduced by Android 17.

The specifications also include night video recording in 4K at 60 frames per second, with advanced algorithms for reducing visual noise in low-light conditions.
