Galaxy S26 Ultra: new problems after the fix for the red tint

The display chapter of Galaxy S26 Ultra does not seem closed yet. After weeks in which several users had reported a bothersome red tint concentrated in the center of the screen, visible especially on white backgrounds at high brightness,

Samsung had intervened with a corrective software update in recent days. Now, however, some users would report an unintended side effect: small dots visible on the panel, appearing right after installing the patch or after calibration performed at service centers.

Samsung had attributed the original problem of the red tint to a software error in the color optimization and calibration routines, during the configuration of the OLED panel’s RGB pixels, explicitly excluding hardware causes or signs of panel degradation.

The company had stated that the update would complete the color optimization without the need for further interventions, still offering a free adjustment at service centers for those who needed it.

The new dots would have appeared right after the fix

Here comes the most recent report: some users would report the appearance of small dots on the display immediately after the August update or after manual calibration at service centers.

At the moment these would be isolated reports, not a widespread issue: Samsung, for its part, has not officially linked these new reports to its software intervention.

Privacy Display and LRED 2.0 at the center of the suspicions

Beyond the official version, some industry experts would hypothesize a different explanation: the structural changes introduced on the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s panel to implement features such as Privacy Display and the technology LRED 2.0 could have made the display more sensitive to this kind of anomaly during calibration. We are nevertheless dealing with an alternative hypothesis to Samsung’s, not a confirmed cause.
