Apple has set the date, here’s when the new iPhones will be announced (including the foldable!)

The wait is over: Apple has officially set the date for its upcoming major autumn event. On September 9, starting from 7:00 PM Italian time, the California-based giant will unveil its latest hardware.

The presentation, titled “Surprise and shine“, will be streamed online on YouTube and on the company’s official channels. The focus will be primarily on the new iPhone lineup, the eagerly anticipated foldable model and the increasingly deep integration of artificial intelligence, now named Siri AI, across the brand’s ecosystem.

Here’s when the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone Ultra will be announced, but that’s not all

This September appointment will mark a historic moment for the company. It will indeed be the first presentation led by the new CEO, John Ternus, who officially took the post on September 1, succeeding Tim Cook.

Although there has been speculation about a possible return to a live format, it is almost certain that the leadership will maintain the proven style of high-quality pre-recorded videos, paired with an in-person Apple Park event dedicated exclusively to the press to test the newly unveiled devices.

iPhone 18 Pro and the highly anticipated debut of the foldable

The stage will be dominated by the iPhone 18 lineup. This year the strategy calls for a split rollout, concentrating the September event on high-end models: iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. The devices will benefit from a major technical update, driven by the new 2-nm A20 Pro chip and the C2 modem.

The photographic section could introduce a variable-aperture camera on the Pro Max, as well as a smaller Face ID module.

However, a possible price increase will have to be accounted for, estimated up to $300 more than the previous generation.

The real surprise of the event will, however, be the iPhone Fold, or perhaps the iPhone Ultra. The first foldable device from the company will feature an internal 7.8-inch display and an external 5.3-inch display. Under the hood we will find 12 GB of RAM and the A20 Pro chip, accompanied by two 48 MP rear cameras and 18 MP front cameras for video calls.

For the iPhone Ultra a high price is expected and initial availability is likely limited to the US market only.

The standard variants, such as iPhone 18, 18e and Air 2, will instead be postponed to spring 2027.

Home ecosystem, tablets and wearables

In addition to smartphones, the presentation will dedicate space to home automation and accessories, strongly tied to the new Siri AI capabilities. Hardware updates are planned for the HomePod mini and Apple TV 4K, needed to support the new smart features.

Rumors also suggest the debut of a new Home Hub, a 7-inch-screen device designed to manage the connected devices in the home.

In the tablets sector, leaks point to the arrival of the eighth-generation iPad mini. This device should receive a major visual update thanks to an 8.4-inch OLED panel and the introduction of the A20 processor.

As for wearables, a simple specifications update is expected for Apple Watch Series 12 and a potential Apple Watch Ultra 4, perhaps with new biometric sensors.

Finally, the new AirPods Pro with built-in cameras could appear, designed to leverage visual intelligence features and respond to users’ gesture commands.
