REDMAGIC 12 Pro+ will be the first Gaming Phone with Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme

It had been in the air for months, but now there is the official confirmation: REDMAGIC 12 Pro+ will mount the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, the most powerful variant of the new Qualcomm processor. It will be among the first to receive the new SoC and, almost certainly, it will be the first Gaming Phone. In the meantime, a leak has begun to fill the gaps left by the teasers, with details on battery, charging and camera.

REDMAGIC 12 Pro+ will shine, with Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6

As anticipated in the opening, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 represents the most advanced version of the Qualcomm platform. Built on 2 nm, it integrates an 8-core Oryon CPU with a maximum frequency of up to 5 GHz, paired with an upgraded Adreno GPU with Adreno Neural Fusion and 18 MB of high-performance graphics memory.

Compared to the standard variant, it offers greater gains in graphics performance and AI processing, thanks also to a faster Hexagon NPU and a larger amount of shared memory dedicated to artificial intelligence.

Also more evolved is the multimedia component, with support for video recording up to 8K at 60 fps, 4K 240 fps slow motion and APV codec. The modem and connectivity remain unchanged, with Snapdragon X105 5G, Wi-Fi 8, Bluetooth 6.0 and support for LPDDR6 and UFS 5.0.

It comes as no surprise that REDMAGIC 12 Pro+ is betting on Qualcomm’s latest innovation, since we are talking about the Gaming Phone par excellence. For now the company has limited itself to confirming a few details: the device targets a lighter, thinner and tighter body, with rounded corners and display bezels reduced from 1.25 mm to 0.96 mm.

We can take for granted the under-display front camera, as well as liquid cooling and active fan.

Battery of 8,400 mAh and 120W charging according to leaks

According to what has leaked in the last hours, REDMAGIC 12 Pro+ would mount a battery of 8,400 mAh, with wired charging at 120W and wireless 80W, all in a slimmer body despite the increased capacity.

The display refresh rate would be higher than the previous model (144 Hz), but rumors do not yet indicate a precise value. On the camera, leaks simply confirm an under-display selfie sensor of a new generation, with improved integration in the panel.

Finally it seems that this year the standard variant (i.e., REDMAGIC 12 Pro) could be eliminated altogether, leaving the Pro+ as the sole high-end model of the series. The launch is expected in October in China while for the Global debut details are still missing.
