nubia NaviX Ultra: the first smartphone with an AI agent arrives in September

After the initial details emerged in July (between official confirmations and rumors) nubia NaviX Ultra now has a launch date: the debut is set for September 16 in China, with pre-orders already open ahead of the presentation. This is the world’s first smartphone with an integrated artificial intelligence, capable not only of responding to voice commands but of carrying out real tasks by moving between the phone’s various apps.

Under the hood we find the chipset Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, paired with LPDDR5X RAM with speeds of 10,667 Mbps (produced by ChangXin Memory Technologies): a milestone for a mass-market device produced on the Chinese market.

The display is a flat 6.78″ OLED panel with 1.5K resolution and a 144 Hz refresh rate, while the battery life is provided by a 7,100 mAh battery with wired fast charging up to 90W/100W and wireless charging.

On the photography front, nubia NaviX Ultra features a 50 MP main sensor paired with an ultra-wide and a periscope telephoto lens, while the front camera for selfies and video calls is also 50 MP.

The design stands out for a horizontally oriented rear module that is easily recognizable and for a dedicated physical AI button, orange in color, located on the side of the phone. The device will be available in blue, pink, black, and white.

The Doubao assistant: understand, act, remember and protect

The heart of nubia NaviX Ultra’s AI experience is the Doubao assistant, developed together with ByteDance, built around four core capabilities: understanding the user’s commands, carrying out the requested tasks, remembering relevant information over time, and ensuring safety during these operations.

The aim is for the assistant to manage activities that involve multiple applications simultaneously, going beyond the simple vocal response that characterizes most current assistants; according to previously circulating rumors, part of this experience would rely on MCP services provided directly by the apps, rather than screen reading and touch simulation.

The price of nubia NaviX Ultra has not yet been disclosed: to learn it one will have to wait for the September 16 launch event, while the phone’s availability for now is said to be limited to the Chinese market.
