Galaxy A18, leak reveals specifications and price: same design but for €100 more

A very substantial leak, accompanied by renders, would have revealed in one go the full technical specs and price of Samsung Galaxy A18 4G: the picture that emerges suggests a fairly modest update over the Galaxy A17 4G in both hardware and design, with a starting price that would rise significantly over the previous generation.

Samsung Galaxy A18: leaked specs: display and design are almost unchanged

As for aesthetics, the Galaxy A18 would keep the setup already seen on the previous model: 6.7″ Super AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution, 90 Hz refresh rate, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus protection, and a teardrop notch at the top.

The rear triple-camera module and the relatively thick bottom chin would also mirror the predecessor’s setup, with no notable visible changes.

The indicated dimensions would be 164.4 x 77.9 x 7.7 mm for 193 grams, with the device slightly thicker and heavier.

Chipset MediaTek Helio G99 confirmed, RAM remains at 4GB

Under the hood, the leak points to the same MediaTek Helio G99 chipset already seen on Galaxy A17 4G, paired with 4 GB of RAM and storage options of 128 GB or 256 GB, expandable via micro SD up to 2 TB.

Thus it would be a purely continuity update in terms of performance, without the generational leap you’d expect from a new model in the series.

50 MP camera, 5,000 mAh battery and IP64 certification

The rear camera setup would include a 50 MP main sensor paired with a 5 MP ultra-wide and a 2 MP macro lens, while the front camera should sit at 13 MP as seen on the previous model, with video recording up to Full HD at 30 fps.

The 5,000 mAh battery with 25W fast charging would thus remain in line with the previous generation, while the only concrete improvement identified by the leak would concern dust and water resistance, with a jump from IP54 to the more solid IP64.

On the connectivity front, the Galaxy A18 should support only 4G networks, GPS, Wi‑Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3 and USB Type-C 2.0. As usual, a version with a 5G modem is also expected.

The launch software should be Android 17 with One UI 9.0, accompanied by Samsung’s commitment to six generations of Android updates and six years of security patches, in line with the support policy now standard on the A series.

Starting price at €299, higher than Galaxy A17 4G

The most notable figure from the leak concerns the price: the Galaxy A18 should start at €299, an increase of €100 over the launch price of the Galaxy A17 4G. In Italy the device has surfaced at a higher price than in other European markets, so it’s likely the same will happen with the new generation.

The price bumps for the Galaxy A18 4G do not represent a proportional increase for a hardware upgrade — this seems limited to the durability certification. The launch is slated for October, with a 5G variant expected a few weeks later.

Not to state the obvious, price increases are due to the memory crisis: the memory is absorbed (almost) entirely by data centers for AI, RAM and storage have suffered sharp increases for the manufacturers themselves. On the one hand, major OEMs have managed to amortize the increases, particularly for certain configurations of top-tier models, but the mid-range and budget segments are the most vulnerable.
