The months of September and October are a period of buzz in the world of Android flagships, with all major launches concentrated in this time frame. Among the upcoming novelties (most likely in October) there will also be OnePlus 16, the brand’s first flagship exclusive to China — after the exit from Europe and the USA, and it seems that it won’t even arrive in India.
Awaiting official confirmation, the specifications would have leaked almost in full thanks to the leaker Digital Chat Station, who hints at a particularly generous battery and a refreshed camera system, in addition to the now imminent latest-generation Snapdragon.
The display would be a BOE X4 panel with a 165 Hz refresh rate, rising to 185 Hz in games that support this mode. At the helm would be the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, built with a 2-nanometer process and paired with the Adreno 850 GPU, the most advanced combination currently available for Android.
On the photographic front, the OnePlus 16 would mount a main sensor of 200 MP with a 1/1.4″ format, paired with a 50 MP periscope telephoto lens with a 1/1.95″ sensor and an ultra-wide, also 50 MP.
The most remarkable detail concerns the battery life: the OnePlus 16 would feature a dual-cell battery of 9,000 mAh, with wired fast charging at 100W and 50W wireless charging. On the software front, the latest ColorOS 17 based on Android 17 and recently launched in China.
The launch of the OnePlus 16 is expected for October, but according to the device it will not arrive in the United States or Europe: the main destination would be China, with India even excluded (the brand’s last global stronghold).
