It had been in the air for several weeks and now something has started to move in the brand’s official channels. The company has begun to tease Mi Fans with references to a new addition to the X series, and perhaps we already know quite well which model it will be.
If you thought the POCO X8 lineup was already finished, you’re badly mistaken and there’s no need for an official confirmation to support it.
Rumors about the base model of the family have been circulating for some time, but in July there was the turning point: a certification surfaced with a Global unreleased device, code 2607DPC18G, and its commercial name. This is the POCO X8 5G, a smartphone that will join the X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max, launched in Italy in March.
On the one hand, looking at the future POCO X9 lineup (there are already early rumors), on the other hand there won’t be to wait until 2027 for a new addition to the series.
In the meantime the company has published a cryptic post, hinting at the launch of a new phone in the POCO X family. The name is not mentioned, but given the certification and the clues from before we can well imagine which will be the lucky model.
The teaser reveals nothing, but the POCO yellow color is abundant: perhaps it’s a clue about one of the color options in which the device will be launched.
The announcement seems very close and it’s likely to be scheduled for by the end of August or at the latest early September. The new X8 5G will join the brand’s latest novelty, the POCO M8 Power: the 8,000 mAh battery phone was launched in India and it’s not known whether it will reach our latitudes.
POCO’s mid-range has long been known in the Xiaomi leak subculture: according to earlier rumors, it should be a rebrand of Chinese Redmi Note 17 Pro, a device launched in its homeland in July but still unreleased in Global markets.
However there would be a trade-off (the usual): a battery downgraded compared to the Asian counterpart, with 8,340 mAh instead of 9,000 mAh.
