Huawei presents MateBook Pro S, the ultralight laptop with Privacy Display

Huawei has unveiled in China the new MateBook Pro S, a premium laptop based on HarmonyOS that focuses on lightness, mobility and integration with the Asian brand’s ecosystem.

The notebook introduces several new features compared with previous models, starting with the ultra-thin design and a technology designed to protect the privacy of the content displayed on the screen.

MateBook Pro S features an OLED 14.2″ display with a 3.1K resolution (3,120 x 2,080 pixels) and a refresh rate up to 120 Hz. The panel supports touch control, the P3 color gamut, and reaches a declared peak brightness of 1,600 nits.

The most notable novelty, however, is the so-called Lingdun Privacy Display, described by the company as the first screen of its kind in the industry.

A dedicated mode – which can be quickly activated or deactivated via a dedicated physical button – limits the side visibility of the content displayed, making it harder to read the screen from external angles. This is a feature similar to Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra’s Privacy Display, an anti-spying protection system.

New Kirin XE90 processor

Under the hood lies the new Kirin XE90. According to Huawei, the processor would offer single-core performance 23% higher than the Kirin X90 (the brand’s first PC chipset, launched on MateBook Fold 2025).

Energy efficiency would improve by 25%, while the performance of the AI-focused NPU would rise by 40%. The cooling system uses two fans and a vertically arranged graphene thermal material.

The new laptop debuts with HarmonyOS 6.1 in its PC incarnation. The operating system includes an updated version of Celia and several productivity-focused features.

Among these are automatic transcription of meetings, AI-powered deep search tools, and features for collaboration across multiple Huawei devices.

The built-in battery has a capacity of 54 Wh and supports USB-C fast charging at 66W, with a claimed autonomy of over 18 hours during Full HD video playback.

The rest of the specifications include Wi-Fi 7+ connectivity, six microphones and Star Flash (NearLink Audio) technology for audio transmission. All of this in a magnesium-lithium alloy body that helps keep weight and dimensions down without sacrificing the 14.2″ form factor; this is an ultralight laptop weighing 798 grams, with 11.9 mm thickness.
