The first Xiaomi smartphone ever equipped with a 9,000 mAh battery was the Redmi Turbo 5 Max, a device we received as the POCO X8 Pro Max (capped at 8,500 mAh). Now the Note series also reaches this record peak, and it does so with the new Redmi Note 17 Pro – arriving in China in July and soon also in international markets.
The confirmation of this news comes directly from the new teasers published by Lei Jun’s company. The new Redmi will be the first in the Note family to reach 9,000 mAh, with support for fast charging of 67W and wired reverse charging of 22.5W.
Moreover, Xiaomi has launched a curious initiative that hints at something more: if the battery health drops below 80% in the phone’s fifth year of life, the company promises to replace it for free with a higher-capacity unit – a full 10,000 mAh.
Such an amount may not be a coincidence: rumors say there is Redmi Note 17 Pro Max, a flagship version that would replace the usual Pro+ model and is said to have a 10,000 mAh solution (or 10,100 mAh according to some).
In the meantime, Xiaomi has also confirmed the presence of a display with a resolution of 1.5K and a peak brightness of 3,500 nits. These details add to those revealed so far, namely that the device will feature Gorilla Glass Victus 2 glass and IP69K certification: both features were the focus of a curious durability test published by the company.
The on-board chipset should be MediaTek’s Dimensity 7500, while the starting Redmi Note 17 model will have a Snapdragon on board (as revealed by the early benchmarks).
Remember that the launch event in China is set for July 14 while for the Global version you will have to wait (probably until early 2027).
