Redmi 17 official in Italy, 4G and 5G: features and price

While internationally we are witnessing the debut of Redmi Note 17 5G, in Italy Xiaomi has chosen to start from the bottom. The brand’s official store has welcomed Redmi 17 4G and Redmi 17 5G, two smartphones that represent two sides of the same coin.

Both devices adopt the same design and the same hardware, with the exception of the chipset. The 4G model uses a MediaTek Helio G91 Ultra solution, while the 5G variant relies on Qualcomm with the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5.

There are also some color variations: the blue and black shades are common to both, but there are also exclusive tones. Redmi 17 4G features the variants Lotus Purple and Oak Green, with a brushed finish; the 5G sibling aims for summer with the color Vivid Orange, characterized by a faux-leather back.

The new Redmi phones feature a vertically positioned rectangular island housing the cameras, the LED flash and a dynamic RGB light (useful for notifications, charging status, gaming lighting effects and a camera status indicator).

The devices sport flat edges and a flat 6.9″ LCD display with HD resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. The panel is TÜV certified for low blue light emission and is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.

The Chinese company has released two Battery Phones with 7,500 mAh batteries, including 22.5W reverse charging, for use as a Power Bank when needed. Standard charging is 45W: 96 minutes are enough to reach 100%.

The camera setup is led by a 50 MP main sensor, while the selfie camera is 8 MP. The software is based on HyperOS 3 – with HyperIsland (Xiaomi’s Dynamic Island) – while the chassis is IP64 rated.

Launch price and offers

The new Redmi budget models debut in Italy with prices starting from €249.9 for the 4G 4/128 GB variant. The 4/256 GB configuration rises to €279.9. Moving to Redmi 17 5G, we have the same memory options, priced at €269.9 and €299.9.

To make a stark comparison, the previous Redmi 15 launched at a list price of €179.9 with 6/128 GB, while the 5G model appeared in Italy at €249.9 with 8/256 GB. In short, we are in the midst of the memory crisis, with consequences also for Xiaomi’s mid-to-lower-end range.
