OPPO Find N7 with the new wide format, but it will have a huge battery

The debut of Samsung’s wide smartphone is getting closer: the date is set for July 22, and in recent hours the supposed press images have even leaked press images. The future iPhone Ultra — Apple’s first foldable — should look similar, and consequently the wide format will become the new trend.

The various Chinese manufacturers are already moving in this direction: Xiaomi, vivo and Honor, even the upcoming OPPO Find N7, all should abandon the traditional design to embrace this format decidedly more practical for handling and multitasking.

OPPO Find N7 gets even more interesting after the latest leaks

A wide foldable smartphone adopts 4:3 screens, bulkier in appearance compared to traditional foldables. However, once the inner display is opened, the final effect is that of a small tablet — with a ratio very similar to that of tablets we are used to.

According to Digital Chat Station, a well-known Chinese insider, we can expect great things from the upcoming OPPO Find N7. Clearly, what will drive everything is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, Qualcomm’s first 2 nm SoC.

This is a detail already known, and now the insider raises the stakes: the foldable should also mount an AI accelerator, presumably a companion chip to handle AI-powered operations.

Battery news continue on the battery front: the OPPO model is expected to reach 6,500 mAh (with silicon-carbon technology). In general it doesn’t scream miracles — the Chinese Honor Magic V6 packs a 7,150 mAh unit — however the Find N7’s capacity should be contextualized. The wide format offers less space and, consequently, it would be a battery of considerable size — larger than those on Samsung and Apple’s devices.

Huawei Pura X Max is equipped with a 5,300 mAh solution, and in this case we’re talking about the first true wide foldable (unfortunately launched only in China). This shows how complex it can be to manage a more compact format compared to the classic one.

A New Design

The rumors continue with a small preview of the design: the insider suggests that OPPO is currently testing two versions of the foldable. One would have the usual circular camera module, characteristic of the series; there would also be a variant in iPhone Air style, with a horizontal capsule-shaped module.

There is also the possibility of launching two distinct models, but for now it’s just a rumor.

Display

Based on what has emerged so far, OPPO Find N7 will offer a foldable display with a seam almost entirely invisible, similar to what was seen with the current Find N6.

The inner display would measure 7.6″ diagonally, while the outer one would stop at 5.5″. Both Samsung and BOE would be involved in supplying the panels, but no further details have emerged yet.

Release Window

The debut of OPPO’s first wide foldable is expected to take place during the first quarter of 2027. The current model was announced in March of this year, so the timeframe seems plausible.
