The automotive division of Xiaomi has officially unveiled its latest engineering masterpiece: YU7 GT has debuted in China alongside the brand’s top-of-the-line Xiaomi 17 Max and the other novelties from the brand. The new high-performance SUV not only represents an expansion of the Lei Jun brand’s automotive lineup but also positions itself as a direct challenger to the giants of the sector thanks to a blend of extreme power and a competitive price.
With a price list starting from 389,900 yuan (about 57,300 dollars at the exchange rate), Xiaomi aims to democratize access to performance that until a few years ago were reserved exclusively for the planet’s most exclusive hypercars.
At the center of Xiaomi YU7 GT we find the V8s EVO engine, capable of reaching 28,000 rpm and an extraordinary 98.38% efficiency. The designation “GT”, acronym for Gran Turismo, is not just an aesthetic choice but reflects the vehicle’s nature: a SUV optimized for long trips but with a track-inspired soul, an “alternative” version of the model YU7 launched last June.
The technical data are impressive, with a peak power of 738 kW (990 HP) that allows the YU7 GT to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.92 seconds, reaching a top speed of 300 km/h.
According to Chinese CLTC homologation cycles, the vehicle is able to travel about 705 km on a single charge. The energy management and motor efficiency reach very high peaks thanks to the adoption of a 897V hardware architecture. This high-voltage ecosystem not only optimizes consumption during driving but guarantees an exceptional energy transfer speed: the battery of 101.7 kWh can indeed recover as much as 570 km of range in a 15-minute charging session.
To ensure impeccable road holding, Xiaomi has introduced the Jiaolong Chassis Master Edition chassis, tested and refined on the legendary Nürburgring circuit. The system integrates dual-valve CDC dampers, dual-chamber air suspensions and a electronically controlled limited-slip differential (eLSD) capable of distributing torque between the rear wheels in fractions of a millisecond.
The braking system, fitted with carbon-ceramic discs and six-piston Akebono calipers, ensures lightning-fast stops in just 32.9 meters from a speed of 100 km/h.
Xiaomi’s attention to detail is also reflected in the cabin that blends luxury and acoustic comfort. The interiors are upholstered in Alcantara and include standard massaging function for all four seats, while the smart panoramic roof offers almost total solar shielding of 99.85%.
To eliminate external noise, the ultra-quiet cabin has been equipped with multi-layer acoustic glass and over 30 targeted updates aimed at noise isolation. The multimedia experience is finally entrusted to a luxury audio system with 25 speakers, Dolby Atmos support and ANC active noise cancellation technology.
Available color options are five, divided into four trim levels: Crimson Red (Sports), Volcanic Grey (Luxury), Obsidian Black and Pearl White (Classic), and Titanium (Fashion). Both interiors and exteriors offer a wide range of carbon fiber options with 24-karat gold plating.
Ultimately, Xiaomi YU7 GT is poised to become the new benchmark in the premium electric SUV market (currently in China, as the debut is limited). As noted at the opening, the sticker price starts from 389,900 yuan (about 57,300 dollars); the top fully loaded variant Big Full Pack costs 429,900 yuan (about 63,200 dollars).
