While Apple was unveiling to the world its latest novelties, including the newly unveiled iPhone Duo, Motorola decided to steal part of the spotlight with a strategic marketing move.
The Cupertino company has finally entered the foldable smartphones sector, drawing global attention with a device that has generated very positive reactions.
However, the competition did not stand by: the American company, leveraging its long experience in this market segment, used the event to tease its Californian rivals and present a very brief preview of its next model with a book-style closing.
The aim is to remind users who has a real tradition in foldable phones and pave the way for a new, solid market alternative.
During the presentation that also featured the new iPhone 18 Pro, the new iPhone 18 Pro, the AirPods 5 and the Apple Watch 12 and Watch Ultra 4, Motorola’s official account on X posted a very explicit video.
The clip retraces the history of the famous Razr, starting from the historic models of the 2000s up to the current Android devices.
The message accompanying the post literally reads “new in their hands, iconic in ours“, a clear reference to the fact that Apple has arrived with years of delay in a category of products already explored by other brands. The video culminates with a very rapid appearance of a device yet unseen, confirming the rumors circulating in the days to come.
This new foldable smartphone adopts a wider form factor, passport-like, a design choice shared by the new iPhone Duo and the recent Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 in its base version.
The final frames of the video show the smartphone with the screens off and a black finish, leaving visible a horizontally arranged camera bar on the back.
This fleeting appearance seems to validate the designs leaked recently online, regardless of whether they came directly from the company or from external sources that obtained confidential material.
The real unknown remains the official launch date. Previous rumors indicated the device would arrive “in the coming months“, but there is still no precise timing for distribution. Likewise, the official price has obviously not yet been announced.
However, it is almost certain that Motorola’s new foldable will be positioned in a price range well below that of the iPhone Duo, which is offered to the public starting from a decidedly high figure, starting from 2,369 euros.
The company’s strategy appears to be to offer a more affordable alternative, directly challenging the Cupertino giant on economic competitiveness as well as hands-on experience.
