HyperOS 4: Global beta registrations open, also for Europe

Xiaomi has started the distribution of the global beta of HyperOS 4, the new version of its interface, starting from a small group of three devices. This is the first step toward the platform’s public release, which in the coming weeks will expand to a larger number of smartphones.

HyperOS 4 Global Beta: Which smartphones receive it first

The first wave of the global beta involves Xiaomi 17 Ultra, Xiaomi 17 and Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi. The Chinese company has already announced that a second wave is planned for September 17, 2026, when the beta program will also expand to Xiaomi 17T Pro, Xiaomi 17T, Xiaomi 15 Ultra and Xiaomi 15.

The official page confirms that registrations are open for both Global devices and for those in the EEA, i.e., models intended for the European market.

How to enroll in the beta program

To participate, users must access the official Xiaomi Community app, then their profile (ME), then “Beta testing” and finally “Recruiting test”, where they need to fill out a registration questionnaire. The outcome of the application can be checked in the same section of the app.

The main features of HyperOS 4

Among the most visible changes is the new Soft Light Glass design, based on transparent and layered elements, together with a redesigned lock screen and stacked widgets with more flexible folders to organize.

Risks to know before installing the beta

Being a beta version, Xiaomi itself warns that the software may be less stable than an official release and may cause compatibility issues with some apps. It is also not possible to revert to HyperOS 3 via a normal OTA update: downgrading requires manually flashing the previous software and may result in data loss on the device.

Xiaomi notes that, in the first one to three days after installation, it is normal to observe higher battery drain and device temperature than usual, a behavior expected during the system optimization phase.
