OnePlus on the Brink of Exiting Europe? Warranty and Support Issues

Some European users are dealing with various issues related to the OnePlus product warranty: customer experiences are being shared on Reddit and paint an unclear picture about the future of the Chinese brand in our region. Or perhaps more than uncertainty, it’s clarity: Pete Lau’s company now seems close to the end of its European journey, amid support problems and official sites emptied of most products.

OnePlus, the farewell to Europe seems increasingly likely: the signs are now too many

OnePlus user stories are numerous, but in all cases there is a common problem: gaps in the warranty coverage for the brand’s ‘small products’. Some are even turning to the European Consumer Centre (ECC), an agency that provides guidance and legal assistance to citizens for cross-border purchases; in this case it concerns deceptive commercial practices and violations of warranty terms.

For example, a user received as a gift a pair of OnePlus Buds 2 with the purchase of the former flagship OnePlus 13, almost two years ago. Before the warranty expired, the earbuds stopped functioning and were sent for repair.

But the TWS are a product now nearing the end of its life cycle and therefore cannot be repaired or replaced: the support issued a voucher worth €199 to be used in the official store. However OnePlus’ various European e-commerce stores are almost completely empty.

There are still some smartphones and tablets, but most products around €200 (we’re talking about accessories) are sold out or on sale, and the system does not allow using the vouchers on discounted items.

This is not an isolated case, but there are reports from multiple European customers: the same issues with warranty and support, the voucher offers, and the inability to redeem them.

The Stock Shortage

Although OnePlus has not yet announced withdrawal from Europe, several official stores in the region show a long list of sold-out products. As noted above, there remain some smartphones and tablets but the vast majority of items are sold out — accessories, smartwatches, earbuds.

For example, in Italy the only available phones are the OnePlus 15R, Nord CE 5 and Nord 5, along with Pad Go 2. The rest of the catalog is empty: no smartwatches, no audio items, not even charging cables and cases.

The impression is that we are facing a series of unsold stock, offered at discounted prices (hence the impossibility of using the vouchers proposed by support).

OnePlus Sends Users to OPPO

The official portals in Germany, France and Spain display the banner you see above: in short, it links to a page that reads, “Looking for new technology that offers you everything you expect from OnePlus devices? OPPO offers you the speed you need and the experience you trust, for smoothness and uninterrupted performance“.

The page features a selection of OPPO products: basically the official stores are directing potential customers toward the parent company, a clear indicator of the current state of the European market.

The (Possible) Future of OnePlus

In short, there’s no point beating around the bush: OnePlus seems poised to wind down all operations in Europe. The worsening warranty service, a catalog nearly completely sold out, and products with two years of life declared at the end of their lifecycle — all seem like indicators of a farewell.

Recent rumors talk of a single software interface for OPPO, OnePlus and Realme: all devices will converge toward ColorOS. Based on what has emerged, OnePlus should continue to operate in some Asian markets (India and China) while Realme would remain in Europe but would discontinue operations in the Chinese territory. OPPO, the parent company, should not undergo changes.
