Samsung Accounts Deactivated by Mistake and Users on Alert: What’s Happening

For the past few days, a growing number of Galaxy users have been reporting a fairly serious problem: the inability to access their own Samsung account, with a message that explicitly mentions deactivation for security reasons.

The reports, gathered from Reddit and Samsung Community, do not come from a single geographic area but seem to concern Galaxy users across the board, and so far Samsung has not released any official statement on the incident.

Samsung Account Deactivated: The Error Message and the Services Involved

The message that appears to affected users is clear in form but not in substance: “Unable to access. Account deactivated for security reasons“, accompanied in some cases by the note of an account in a state of “ban”. The problem is not limited to a simple login: losing access to the Samsung account also leaves users cut off from ecosystem services that depend on authentication, such as Samsung Find, Wallet and SmartThings.

The first reports date back to the end of August, and since then the number of affected users is believed to have grown rapidly. It is not clear whether this is a technical malfunction or legitimate deactivations triggered for security reasons: the cause remains unknown at the moment.

To complicate matters the responses received by those who contacted Samsung support have been contradictory: some support agents spoke of a permanent ban with no possibility of restoration, others acknowledged the problem as a known case under analysis, while in other cases they would have limited themselves to providing generic guidance, without openly acknowledging the problem or indicating a timeline for resolution.

A possible lead concerns the format of the email address linked to the account: accounts using aliases with characters such as “+” or “.” in the address could be more exposed to the problem. However, this is a theory that does not convince, since not all users reporting the issue use this type of email address.
