vivo X500 Ultra: the launch window is already official, and here’s when it arrives

Less than 24 hours after the presentation of the X500 series, the Chinese company has already set the wait for the variant most coveted by mobile photography enthusiasts: the vivo X500 Ultra will arrive between March and April 2027, with a gap of several months compared to the rest of the newly launched lineup.

This was confirmed by Huang Tao, Vice President of the Product Division, in a Q&A session following the presentation event in China on September 21. At the moment only the launch on the Chinese market is confirmed, while international availability remains uncertain.

If the release window is official, the technical specifications remain for now in the realm of rumors. According to what has emerged, vivo is reportedly evaluating three different options for the 200 MP telephoto, with optical formats of 1/1.12″, 1/1.3″ or 1/1.4″, without a final decision having been made yet.

On the front of the main 35 mm sensor, the ongoing tests would involve two alternative configurations: one 50 MP with 1/1.28″ format and LOFIC technology, paired with OIS stabilization and a micro-gimbal, and a second 200 MP with LOFIC sensor of 1/1.12″.

Also, rumors circulate about the chipset: the future Ultra model could mount a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, in contrast to the Dimensity 9600-series chips announced for the other members of the X500 series.

Finally, we throw our weight behind the possibility of a global debut, including in Italy. The current vivo X300 Ultra has found space with us as well, so the company could again adopt the same strategy.
