The Chinese company has announced vivo X Fold 6, a next-generation foldable smartphone characterized by high-end specifications, an unmistakable style, a stellar camera, and, in all this, there’s room for an extra-large battery.
By now the foldable category has come into its own, and the brand’s latest novelty is clear proof: here are all the details, with an overview of prices in China and the full technical sheet!
The new vivo X Fold 6 is a true jewel: the design is similar to that of the previous X Fold 5, with a large module circular that houses the cameras and an in-fold format, i.e., with a folding screen inward and one positioned on the outside.
With its 4.4 mm thickness (open, it’s 9.4 mm when closed) and a weight of 228 grams, the phone slightly surpasses its predecessor, but it’s a minor and legitimate compromise, given the improvements in battery life and the camera.
The internal display is an 8.02-inch AMOLED 2K display, made with Samsung’s M14 material and featuring a peak brightness of 5,000 nits (starting from a minimum of 1 nit). The refresh rate ranges from 1 Hz to 120 Hz thanks to LTPO technology and PWM Dimming at 1,920 Hz is present.
The external screen is a 6.51″ AMOLED 2K solution; it is a BOE Q11 panel with the same characteristics as the foldable one, with the addition of a second-generation Armour Glass protection.
The heart of the foldable is the chipset Dimensity 9500 Super Edition by MediaTek: the SoC comes from the collaboration between the Taiwanese company and vivo, with improvements in terms of multitasking fluidity and artificial intelligence (which is more efficient).
Technically we are dealing with the same chip as always, built at 3 nm by TSMC and equipped with a main core C1-Ultra up to 4.21 GHz and a high-performance GPU with ray tracing. On the memory side the company has used LPDDR5X Ultra units and UFS 4.1, respectively up to 16 GB and 1 TB.
The smartphone uses fifth-generation silicon-carbon technology and an exclusive semi-solid-state battery of third generation with a 7,000 mAh capacity, with deep optimizations.
The result is stellar battery life: the Chinese company promises up to 9.8 hours under heavy load. Wired charging goes up to 80W and there is also 40W wireless charging.
The software is OriginOS 6 Fold, based on Android 16. The big novelty is the revamped multitasking system Atomic Workbench: now it is able to fully take advantage of the large inner display, offering up to 4 windows simultaneously and with even smoother performance. In short, the brand’s new foldable presents itself as a real productivity powerhouse.
Even though it’s a foldable, the new X Fold 6 offers a class-leading camera system. The main sensor is a Samsung HPB 200 MP lens (f/1.68, 1/1.4″) made in collaboration with vivo, the same seen on X300 and X300 Pro (respectively as the main and telephoto).
The company has for the first time on a foldable device implemented a Zeiss APO periscope telephoto lens (a Sony LYT-602 sensor). The third lens is a 50 MP ultra-wide; in all cases Zeiss optics are present while the selfie cameras are both 20 MP (f/2.4).
Finally, the other features of the main camera system include the proprietary ISP V3+, a color temperature sensor, and support for the 200 mm external Vivo Zeiss G2 telephoto lens.
As for the selling price, it starts from around €1,000 at the current exchange rate: below you will find all configurations, with the original amount and the euro equivalent. At the moment the foldable flagship has not yet been confirmed in the Global version, so we are awaiting any news.
