The Chinese company has kicked off the Global release of the new Redmi mid-range series, but with a few differences: in Italy and Europe we witnessed the debut of Redmi 17 4G and 5G while in India Redmi Note 17 5G made an appearance.
A well-known insider has hinted at the alleged Global dates for Redmi Note 17 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro, with a look at the Indian market. Not much trouble for us Westerners, since we can make some predictions on when the new Redmi and Xiaomi smartphones will arrive at our latitudes.
According to the rumors, the first event is set for September 5, but we aren’t interested, and the reason is simple. It would be the Indian release of the Redmi 17 lineup, just announced in Italy.
Things will get more interesting starting from September 18 or 20: according to insider Abhishek Yadav, there will be the Redmi Note 17 Pro series presentation event.
The leaker explicitly talks about the series, “confirming” what has been in the air for some time: Redmi Note 17 Pro Max has been certified in Europe, has been spotted on Geekbench and has received a juicy leak teaser from an online store. In short, its existence is no secret.
Usually after the launch in India it’s our turn and, based on past experiences, we should receive the full family. In addition to the older Pro and Pro Max brothers, Note 17 5G will surely arrive, and the new Redmi Note 17 4G (the latter was featured in a leak a few hours ago).
Perhaps the Europe and Italy presentation could take place by the end of September: the current Redmi Note 15 were unveiled on January 6 in India and January 15 in our regions, with a very short time gap.
Drumroll for the big news: for the first time Lei Jun’s company will be able to bring a top-tier Pro to the West. The source claims that the Xiaomi 18 Pro series will arrive in India in December: “series“, so a Xiaomi 18 Pro Max is also expected.
The standard model isn’t mentioned: perhaps Xiaomi 18 Global will be unveiled at a later date? At the moment the strategy isn’t clear, and the reason is that we don’t have a complete view.
The 18 lineup is expected in China in September, so it’s necessary to wait for the Asian event to understand whether Xiaomi will announce the entire trio of flagships or if it will opt for a two-stage launch (Pro and Pro Max in September, standard version later).
