Caviar, a company already well known to the public for creating ultra-luxury versions of smartphones adorned with materials such as gold, has turned its attention to Ray-Ban Meta AI Glasses.
The result of this operation is a new model named “Odyssey“, offered at a price of $6,840, a figure that places the product in a highly elitist market segment.
The Odyssey version follows the approach that made Caviar famous, based on the use of precious materials. In this specific case, the customization takes shape in the application of 24-carat gold in several parts of the frame.
The gold inserts are visible along the top of the glasses, on the ends of the stems and near the hinges, where the producer’s logo is also engraved. The pursuit of detail goes as far as the image capture button for photos and videos, also gold-plated.
For those who prefer a different finish, Caviar has also provided an silver variant. This version, while maintaining a premium price position, is offered at the lower figure of $6,130.
To complete the standard equipment of both variations, both the gold and the silver, there is a protective case made of genuine alligator leather, another element that underscores the product’s exclusivity.
The commercial strategy chosen for Odyssey glasses is based on the principle of scarcity. Production will be limited to only 24 units, a number that pays homage to the 24 books that compose the Odyssey, the famous Greek epic poem from which the device takes its name, and in line with the aim of offering a collectible object, intended for a very small audience.
The product presentation is accompanied by strongly evocative messaging. Caviar associates Odyssey with the figure of Odysseus, describing him as a leader able to anticipate the times and transform every journey into an advantage. Obviously, the company also wants to ride the success of Christopher Nolan’s latest film.
Beyond the purely aesthetic aspect and the value of the materials, it is important to remember that the device retains the original Ray-Ban Meta functionalities, even though enclosed in a decidedly unusual and lavish appearance.
