“You’re not ready”: major changes ahead for OPPO, OnePlus and Realme

The global rise in the cost of electronic components and memory chips is leaving a deep mark on the entire technology industry. It’s not just about witnessing the launch of devices like the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro Max or the Galaxy S27 at ever more exorbitant figures, but about observing a genuine internal reorganization of the world’s major smartphone manufacturers.

The most recent rumors, in fact, indicate a strong shake-up coming for the Asian group OPPO that manages some of the brands best known internationally, namely OnePlus and Realme.

According to information spread by the well-known insider Yogesh Brar and other sources close to the production lines, the sector is facing a reorganization that would indissolubly unite the operations of OnePlus and Realme. The two companies would merge their departments into a new unified product center, also bringing together the marketing and customer service divisions.

The chain of command will undergo a substantial change to optimize resources. Realme founder Li Bingzhong will assume leadership of the new joint division.

At the same time, the current OnePlus president in China, Li Jie, will take the reins of mobile devices development, reporting directly to OnePlus co-founder Pete Lau. This strategic move appears to be a necessary response to curb rising production costs and maintain the brands’ profitability.

New commercial geographies and unexpected departures

In addition to the leadership merger, distribution strategies will undergo drastic geographical variations.

Sources indicate that Realme will discontinue its operations in the Chinese market, while maintaining its presence in the rest of the world. European fans of the brand will therefore be able to continue purchasing devices without any changes.

A radically different decision will instead affect OnePlus, which will follow a geographic path almost opposite. The brand could limit its commercial activity exclusively to the Indian and Chinese markets.

If confirmed, this choice would represent a notable shock for European users, where the company enjoys a strong overall popularity, significantly higher than OPPO’s brand. In confirmation of a climate of strong internal upheaval, the Realme India CEO has recently submitted his formal resignation.

In this rapidly changing chessboard, OPPO is also preparing for equally important moves. The company, which has recently launched the acclaimed Find X9 Ultra, is reportedly planning incisive maneuvers on a global scale, although precise details remain unknown.

Brar’s message on social channels leaves no room for reassuring interpretations: an even bigger piece of news will be revealed next month and, according to his exact words, the public is not yet ready for what will happen.
