OnePlus 16 appears on Geekbench and confirms the Snapdragon chipset

A new listing on Geekbench offers a concrete early look at the performance of OnePlus 16, also confirming the chipset the device is expected to feature at launch. However there are still a few uncertainties, but fortunately there is very little time left until the unveiling of Qualcomm’s new flagship SoC.

OnePlus 16: Geekbench scores and the new Snapdragon chipset

According to what has emerged, OnePlus 16 would have achieved a single-core score of 3.073 points and a multi-core score of 11.093 points. The CPU configuration, with 8 cores, includes 3 cores at 3.74 GHz, 3 cores at 4.03 GHz, and 2 cores at 5.01 GHz, with the chipset identified by the code SM8975.

Based on the chipset clock frequency, it should be the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6: Qualcomm would indeed be planning the launch of two versions of the chipset, a standard and a Pro. According to benchmarks so far, the base variant should reach 5.01 GHz while the larger Pro would rise to 5.11 GHz.

There would also be GPU-side differences, namely with an Adreno 845 and an Adreno 850 solution. However, analyzing the OnePlus 16 benchmarks, there appears to be a 5.01 GHz SoC but with Adreno 850 graphics.

At this point it’s wise to wait for Qualcomm’s announcement, scheduled during the upcoming Summit (from September 22 to 24), to uncover the full truth about the pair of chipsets.

In the meantime, the company has confirmed the design of the new flagship, along with color options and memory configurations. The OnePlus 16 is preparing to debut in the new colorway Tomorrow Starlight, characterized by a finish designed to evoke the light of the stars.

The back uses a new interstellar light effect, paired with a nanometric lattice texture, capable of creating dynamic reflections when the smartphone is tilted or rotated. To complete everything, we find a new glass processing of Silk glass, designed to offer a surface that is more silky to the touch and less prone to fingerprints.
