Huawei, exciting news for foldables by the end of the year

According to the latest rumors provided by the well-known insider Digital Chat Station, the Asian manufacturer has significant updates in store for its line of foldable smartphones.

It will not be a single isolated device, but rather a structured expansion of the lineup that will cover both the classic clamshell format and the more complex tri-fold and the “wide” range.

The information that has emerged indicates the adoption of the new Kirin 9050 Pro chipset, a processor that should make its first official appearance alongside the Mate 90 series. Although production will not use a 3 nm node, the expected performance is comparable to that of chips manufactured with that lithographic process.

Currently, the company’s best offering is represented by the Kirin 9030, manufactured by SMIC on the N+3 node, a 6 nm-class technology comparable to TSMC’s N6. The jump promises to be tangible and will guarantee the computational power needed to handle large displays and advanced software features.

The device aimed at a broader user base is Huawei Mate X9, a foldable smartphone with a traditional design. This model will feature an external display of 6.5 inches and a large internal screen of 8.15 inches, offering a slightly larger surface than the 8.0 inches of the previous Mate X7.

Also, the battery life will receive a major upgrade: the battery will exceed 6000 mAh in capacity, clearly surpassing the 5600 mAh of its predecessor.

From a photography standpoint, the Mate X9 will host an updated main sensor of 1/1,3 inches and a telephoto module, probably accompanied by an ultrawide lens.

Commercially, the pricing is particularly competitive. The expected cost is around 10,000 yuan, corresponding to about 1,290 euros, marking a clear drop from the Mate X7’s launch price, which started at 13,000 yuan for the base version equipped with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage.
