The month of July is particularly hot, and not only for the extreme temperatures: the Chinese giant announced the Pura 90s series during its summer event, but the news are not over yet. Huawei MatePad Air in the 2026 version is the brand’s new ultra-slim tablet: here are all the novelties, along with price details for international markets.
The MatePad Air philosophy remains unchanged: offering a large surface devoted to productivity and entertainment, in a portable format. The tablet debuts in three pastel colors, a thickness of just 5.3 mm and 509 grams of weight, with an OLED display using PaperMatte technology (optional) with a 12″ diagonal.
The PaperMatte edition features an OLED panel with a nanometer-scale matte anti-reflective coating, offering a visual and tactile feel similar to paper. The panel features ultra-thin bezels (only 4.6 mm), a refresh rate up to 144 Hz, 2.8K resolution and a maximum brightness of 1,200 nits.
The device debuts alongside a stylish M Pencil Pro pink with Air Mouse mode and a new feature that lets you turn pages on the tablet simply by swiping your finger across the surface of the pen.
The Notes app is enriched with new AI-based modes, such as advanced voice recognition, AI handwriting and Tutor AI (useful for students; it can solve exercises providing explanations and details on the process).
The WPS Office package lets you work on documents, spreadsheets, PDFs and presentations, with the same speed and practicality as a traditional PC. The software is HarmonyOS 4.3 as usual, while the camera system is based on a 50 MP main sensor and a 12 MP front for selfies and calls.
The Kirin chipset is not specified; the autonomy is entrusted to an extra-large 10,000 mAh battery, with fast charging up to 66W.
The starting price of Huawei MatePad Air 2026 is €849, for the 8/256 GB configuration with keyboard included. There are also two variants with PaperMatte display: from 8/256 GB to €899 (with keyboard or M Pencil Pro) and from 12/256 GB to €999 (with keyboard included).
At the moment the new model is not available in Italy; we will update you as soon as we know more and, in the meantime, if you’re aiming for a Huawei tablet you can take a look at MatePad Pro Max (also available here). It is enormous but it’s the thinnest tablet in the world, as of this writing.
