XREAL Aura price revealed, pre-orders open also for Italy

The wait for the new glasses dedicated to spatial computing is almost over. The company has officially confirmed that XREAL Aura, running the Android XR operating system, will make its commercial debut during this autumn season.

Although the retail figure has not been dissected to the penny, the communications issued in these hours have clarified one of the most relevant details for consumers: the cost of the base model will not exceed the 1,500 dollars, excluding taxes.

Concurrently with the price ceiling announcement, the company has opened the pre-order phase. Interested buyers to secure one of the first units can guarantee their priority by paying an initial deposit of 99 or 299 dollars.

The choice not to crystallize the final price list immediately responds to a specific need closely tied to the current fluctuations of the hardware sector. The cost of certain physical components, with particular reference to memory chips, is in fact subject to unpredictable variations.

Setting a ceiling of 1,500 dollars in advance, the brand ensures a valuable safety margin to absorb possible production increases, while still maintaining the ability to offer the product at a lower value if the supply chains should stabilize downward.

To compare products within the brand’s catalog, the XREAL One Pro headset is now sold at 599 dollars, backed by a recent price adjustment.

The new Aura glasses sit at a clearly higher level of processing and comfort. The Android XR architecture brings substantial updates, including a noticeably expanded field of view and the implementation of integrated cameras directly in the device housing.

Ergonomically, the set will include a dedicated external module, designed to enclose the battery and computing processors, thereby keeping the frame as light as possible on the wearer’s eyes.

All things considered, is it a good price?

Analyzing the expenditure required from a strictly technical standpoint, the estimated outlay appears fully coherent with the equipment.

Calculating the budget needed to approach a similar experience by assembling the accessories already on the market, such as adding the XREAL Eye optical module and the essential XREAL Beam Pro smartphone to supply the processing power to the previous glasses, easily brings the total to between 900 and 950 dollars.

In light of the notable structural improvements and the experience guaranteed by the new sensors, the $1,500 ceiling emerges as a rational economic request justified by the technological evolution offered.

It is worth remembering that buying the first Google Glass model required paying a quite similar amount.
