The Chinese company has announced a novelty for coffee lovers, although at the moment it remains confined to its homeland. Here are all the details and the price, and let’s keep our fingers crossed for a debut in our part of the world as well.

This is not the first time Xiaomi has ventured into a coffee machine; however, it is the first portable device in the category. The operation and design are similar to those of already seen solutions, for example like HiBREW H4. However the model from Lei Jun’s company is endowed with the brand’s unmistakable style, with a minimalist aesthetic.

The machine has a cylindrical shape, with 24.5 cm in height and 7.15 cm in width: perfect measurements to store it in the car’s cup holder or to pack it in the backpack without excessive bulk. For espresso extraction it offers a maximum pressure of 20 bar, similar to classic models.

Regarding compatibility, the Xiaomi Mijia Portable Coffee Machine supports both ground coffee and capsules. The ceramic heating element and the PID algorithm ensure precise control of the water temperature while the device offers both hot and cold extraction, with a standard dispensing time of about 45 seconds.

On the battery life side, Xiaomi claims that you can brew up to 400 cups of coffee on a single charge, thanks to the triple battery totaling 7,500 mAh. Recharging is via a convenient USB-C port, with support for 45W: about 30 minutes to go from 20% to 80%, while a full charge occurs in 80 minutes.

The device is rated IP55, while the box includes various accessories including a carrying case, an aluminum alloy stand, a measuring scoop, and more. Xiaomi’s portable coffee machine debuted on crowdfunding on YouPin: the list price is 799 yuan (approximately €102 at the exchange rate) but will be on sale for a limited time.

Last May, Xiaomi brought its espresso machine to Italy: who knows whether it will also announce the new portable model!
