The Japanese company has announced the new Sharp AQUOS R11, its latest flagship. Do not expect top-of-the-line specs with the latest Snapdragon flagship: the company has chosen a different approach, focusing on a balanced technical package, a high-end display, and a camera system developed in collaboration with Leica. No, Xiaomi is not the only brand working with the well-known German brand!
The aesthetics are crafted in collaboration with the Japanese designer Miyake: the device features a circular camera module not perfectly spherical, with a large LED flash (which also serves as ambient lighting) and three elegant color options (blue, ivory and terracotta).
The front section hosts a Pro IGZO OLED display of 6.5″ diagonal, with Full HD resolution and a refresh rate of 240 Hz – with LTPO technology. Peak brightness is 3,600 nits while the 50.3 MP selfie camera is housed in a central hole. The device features symmetric bezels of 1.3 mm thickness.
Similar to Xiaomi smartphones, the new Sharp AQUOS R11 is equipped with Leica optics (Hektor series): this isn’t the first time, indeed the collaboration between the two brands has been going on for a long time, well before Lei Jun’s company entry onto the scene.
The main sensor of 50.3 MP is equipped with optical stabilization and is accompanied by a 50.3 MP ultra-wide (FOV of 122°) and a telephoto with 2.9X zoom (and OIS). There is also a 14-channel multispectral sensor for color fidelity.
As you can easily guess, the new AQUOS sits in the high-end segment, without going overboard: the onboard chipset is the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 while on the battery life side we have a 5,100 mAh unit with support for wired charging at 36W.
The price starts from 162,470 yen, about €874 at the current exchange rate. As with the rest of Sharp’s flagship devices, they are designed for the Japanese market and will hardly find a place in our latitudes.
