A Nothing-branded laptop? Some imagine it this way (and it’s stunning)

The visual identity of Nothing has managed to revive the transparent aesthetics that characterized technology around the late 1990s and the early 2000s.

The company of Carl Pei has built the brand’s philosophy around a clean minimalist aesthetic and the showcasing of internal components, often opting for a colorless palette and bold contrasts.

For quite some time the company’s products have inspired a broad group of creatives, leading to amateur concepts for external batteries, headphones, vacuum cleaners and turntables. Up to now, however, there has been no substantial interpretation dedicated to the world of laptops.

Designer imagines the Nothing Book, behold the wonder

The independent designer Nikita Bukoros has decided to fill this gap by conceiving the “Nothing Book“, a laptop designed specifically for gamers and content creators.

This is an unofficial stylistic exploration, detached from the parent company, which nonetheless captures its essence. Bukoros describes his creation as a true piece of industrial art.

The bottom, completely transparent chassis showcases the device’s technical complexity, revealing the motherboard, the cooling system with visible fans and the entire internal architecture in a hypnotic composition. This stylistic choice closely echoes the visual charm of classic gaming desktop PC cases, bringing such elaboration into an extremely compact and portable format.

A top-tier set of ports and accessories

A distinctive design element of the Nothing Book is the secondary display tucked into the lid. This external screen breaks the monotony of traditional laptops, allowing essential information on battery status, text messages, symbols and emojis to be displayed, all rendered with the brand’s characteristic dot-matrix font.

Accompanying these features are side-firing speakers and a robust port set to ensure maximum practicality in daily use, including HDMI, USB, USB-C and the wired power input.

The concept even moves beyond monochrome, offering the laptop in versions with vivid tones such as deep red, cool green, pale pink and a magnetic tea-leaf green.

To complete the designer’s imagined ecosystem there is a coordinated charging base, designed to enhance the machine’s geometry and to display a specific animation on the external display while charging.

An ongoing wait

The project develops an idea Carl Pei had hinted at during the very early steps of his company, a hypothesis long invoked by fans but never realized so far.

While enthusiasts wonder whether a device like this will ever go into mass production, this concept clearly demonstrates that there is strong demand for bold solutions in a hardware sector often characterized by lines far too prudent and predictable.
