Apple raises prices on Mac and iPad: the blow has finally arrived

It had been in the air for several days now, and now the blow has arrived: Apple’s official store has been temporarily taken offline, an event that occurs at the launch of new products. However this time it’s not a happy event but the much-hyped price increases anticipated even by the CEO himself.

Upon its return, Cupertino’s portal displayed the updated price list with increases for both the Mac lineup and the iPad range: let’s take a look at all the models involved, the current prices, and the extent of the increase.

The new figures are decidedly steep, with increases ranging from a few tens of euros to as much as €1,300. No one was spared, not even the recent budget addition MacBook Neo: the affordable laptop goes from €699 to €799, with an increase of €100 from the previous list price. Below you will find all affected devices.

From the reported price increases, some Apple products are excluded, which did not undergo any change to the price list. In particular the models of iPhone, Apple Watch, and the AirPods range remain unchanged, keeping the previous prices despite the increases.

As discussed earlier, the higher prices are the direct consequence of the crisis the tech world is experiencing at this time. It was Tim Cook himself who clarified the inevitability of the price increases: a huge amount of memory has been absorbed by data centers for AI, leaving the consumer sector with a shortage of components (sold at higher prices).

By autumn, the cost of individual components could even quadruple. For now Apple has chosen to limit the price list update to certain product categories; however it is clear that soon it will also affect the iPhone lineup (perhaps ahead of the new generation, scheduled for September).
