A revolution is on the horizon at Samsung, at least with regard to the name of its next foldable lineup. The series is expected to introduce the new Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra alongside the standard model, but there’s a “trick”: let’s see how the foldable book-form family should change, according to the latest rumors.
As reported by Sammobile’s colleagues, so for now there are no official confirmations. Anyway, it seems a plausible move for the Asian manufacturer, which already uses the Ultra nomenclature for its main flagship series. What stands out is that, in reality, the name change seems only formal — at least according to the rumors.
This presumed strategy could make sense, but also a caveat. On one hand the label Wide suggests some kind of special edition, while absorbing the new format into the regular lineup implies that this form factor will enter the family definitively.
On the other hand, calling the usual model with the Ultra label undermines the strength of this word. Galaxy S26 Ultra does introduce improvements over its smaller siblings, while in the case of the Fold series, we’re talking about the usual standard version renamed for the occasion.
It is also true that this line of thinking belongs to tech enthusiasts, users who always pay attention to specifications and stay up-to-date on issues affecting the mobile sector.
The appointment with the new foldables is set for July, even though for now the date is the result of leaks. Below you will find the specifications of the new Folds, at least according to what has leaked so far.
