A few days remain until the launch event of the OPPO Reno 16 series — scheduled for May 25 — and after a period of silence, leaks and confirmations are becoming more intense. On one hand, the standard model has appeared on Geekbench hinting at the return of a MediaTek SoC; through official channels, the Chinese manufacturer has revealed something more about the camera system of this generation.
The new mid-range in the family has appeared on Geekbench under the code PMM110: there is no commercial name yet, but previously the model number had been associated with OPPO Reno 16. The device appeared on the platform with an octa-core MediaTek chipset featuring a maximum frequency of 3.4 GHz and a Mali GPU.
The leaked specifications could lead one to think of the Dimensity 8500; however from the leaks we know that the phone would have the updated version, namely the Dimensity 8550. The latter would have CPU and GPU identical to those of its predecessor, but introducing some internal improvements. We are talking about a chipset with:
The phone scored 1,611 points in the single-core test and 6,402 points in the multi-core test, with 12 GB of RAM and Android 16 as the software. On board we should have a 6.32″ OLED display at 120 Hz, while the whole package would be powered by a 6,700 mAh battery with 80W charging.
Regarding the camera department, OPPO themselves weigh in with an official confirmation. The latest teaser confirms a triple sensor setup of 200 + 50 + 50 MP with an ultra-wide and a periscopic telephoto lens. On the front there is space, inside the center punch-hole, for a 50 MP selfie camera.
We note that for now we are talking about a debut in China and Asian models: it remains to be seen when the new series will arrive here and what technical changes there will be. In the meantime, here is a first draft of the technical sheet.
