The event today, April 20, is dedicated to devices in the Pura lineup but there is room for other news as well. This time the Chinese tech giant has decided to dust off a gem not seen for over three years: Huawei Watch Buds 2 is the new chapter of the hybrid smartwatch that includes a watch and earbuds together!
The wearable’s design is more refined than that of the predecessor (launched also in Italy, here is our review) but the spirit remains the same: the round display is equipped with a magnetic closure and once opened it hides underneath it a pair of Bluetooth earbuds with an octagonal cylindrical shape.
The panel is a 1.5″ OLED display with a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels, featuring a peak brightness of 3,000 nits – for a viewing experience that remains perfect, even in bright light. The top is protected by a second-generation Kunlun glass while the bezels appear thinner than those of the previous model. The dimensions are 47 x 47 x 14.69 mm, with a weight of 54.5 grams.
The body is made of aerospace-grade titanium alloy, available in Amber Brown, Obsidian Black and Titanium Silver finishes. Huawei Watch Buds 2 leaves nothing out, both for health-related features and fitness. The watch supports over 90 sports modes and offers HRV (Heart Rate Variability) monitoring, notifications in case of heart rhythm irregularities and sleep apnea detection.
The 2-in-1 gadget is equipped with NFC, built-in GPS and works as a digital key for the car; the 410 mAh battery guarantees up to 3 days of use. The main feature of the watch remains hidden inside: the new Bluetooth earbuds weigh about 4 grams and support adaptive recognition (can be used on either the right or left). There is active noise cancellation ANC and a bone-conduction microphone for crisper calls.
In terms of battery life, the earbuds reach up to 3 hours of audio playback with ANC active, while without this feature it rises to 4 hours.
The new Huawei Watch Buds 2 was launched in China in two versions, with a launch offer: prices start at 3,488 yuan (about €435 at the exchange rate) for vegan leather strap models, up to 3,988 yuan (about €497) for the titanium strap version). The first chapter was also presented in Italy, so it’s not to be ruled out that the company might decide to do a second edition.
