The upcoming April 20 will host the launch event (in China) for the Pura 90 Pro lineup, but we already know there will be other announcements. Among them is the brand-new Huawei Pura X Max, the first wide-format foldable from the Chinese tech giant.
The device will arrive this month, as confirmed by the company itself: it is a winning strategic move that allows Huawei to outpace its main rivals (Apple and Samsung).
Remember that both Cupertino and Samsung are at work on the new foldable format, at least according to the sea of rumors. The very first iPhone Fold should adopt the wide design, while for the South Korean company the name of its Galaxy Z Fold Wide is already a statement of intent.
But what exactly is the wide format? It is a radical change in the proportions of foldables, both when closed and open. At the moment, most fold devices are narrow and elongated, while in wide models the final result appears more chunky.
It may seem paradoxical, but in fact it is a format that pairs perfectly with multitasking and allows for an experience more like a tablet (than that of a giant phone).
The images speak for themselves and help to fully understand the format. Returning to Huawei Pura X Max, expected on April 20, the device would feature an internal display WQHD+ 7.69" paired with an external 5.5" display.
The company has chosen to maintain an aspect ratio of 16:10, a solution already proven successful (with the previous Pura X) that guarantees a wide and balanced workspace. Pura X Max is available in five color options: Phantom Night Black, Zero Degree White, Interstellar Blue, Olive Gold and Vibrant Orange.
According to what has been revealed by the official pre-orders, the foldable will arrive with 12/16 GB of RAM and storage of 256/512 GB/1 TB.
From a technical standpoint, the device should be powered by the Kirin 9030 chip, characterized by a novel 9-core architecture capable of delivering significant improvements in overall performance. Photography will also be a pillar of the offering, with a triple camera paired with a Red Maple multispectral sensor (a hallmark feature for Huawei).
