After rumors and the first confirmations, we now also have the presentation date of Redmi K90 Max. The new flagship will replace the usual Ultra model from the Xiaomi sub-brand and it won’t be only that: the event (planned in China) will also introduce two tablets and a premium laptop. Despite the Chinese debut, these are devices that could interest us in the West (not all), especially the smartphone as it should serve as the base for our Xiaomi 17T Pro.
Regarding the release, the Redmi event is scheduled for the April 21: in addition to K90 Max there will also be the budget tablet Redmi Pad 2 SE and the flagship one Redmi K Pad 2. Finally there will also be room for Redmi Book Pro 2026 14-inch with the onboard Intel Core Ultra X7 358H processor, a 92 Wh battery, 90W charging and a new Super AI assistant. The company has also confirmed the 16″ diagonal version, as usual.
As for the new smartphone, Redmi K90 Max will arrive with gaming phone ambitions: in addition to top-of-the-class specs there will be an integrated cooling fan (18.1 mm) and a large screen with a refresh rate of 165 Hz, 3,500 nits of peak brightness and native support for 165 fps for over 40 games, all with a touch sampling rate of 480 Hz (instantaneous 3,500 Hz). Below you will find a draft of the spec sheet, based on leaks and confirmations.
We have anticipated that the new Redmi should serve as the base for Xiaomi 17T Pro: as always the Redmi K Ultra models arrive here as part of the Xiaomi T series, so this is a hypothesis based on facts (though previous). Meanwhile a certification confirms both the existence of 17T and 17T Pro and Redmi Pad 2 9.7: the latter, available both WiFi and 4G, seems to be a rebrand of Redmi Pad 2 SE – coming to China during the April 21 event.
Finally the debut: usually the release of the T series is planned for September, but this year there might be an exception. Based on what has emerged so far the release wouldn’t be far away; they are looking at the month of May but the final word always rests with Xiaomi.
We remain awaiting news and in the meantime we leave you with an overview of the supposed differences between Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro: compared to the Chinese model there wouldn’t be the fan but both would gain cameras with Leica optics.
