Your Samsung smartphone will soon be much smarter

According to the latest rumors that have leaked online, Samsung’s upcoming One UI 8.5 interface, which will make its official debut with the Galaxy S26 series early next year, is shaping up to be one of the most significant (albeit minor) updates in the brand’s recent history.

The information that emerged suggests that the One UI 8.5 will focus on deep and proactive AI integration into daily activities. It’s no longer just about generating images or summarizing texts, but about turning the smartphone into an assistant capable of anticipating users’ needs.

The most interesting discovery found in the One UI 8.5 system files by Android Authority is called Now Nudges. If the previous Now Bar feature introduced a new way to interact with notifications, Now Nudges seems to take the experience to the next level, leveraging the power of Galaxy AI (likely powered by the Gemini Nano model).

This feature appears very similar to Magic Cue, introduced by Google with the Pixel 10 series, and is based on a fundamental principle: learning the user’s routines to offer useful suggestions exactly when needed.

The three pillars of the new AI

The leaks detail three specific areas where Now Nudges will operate to simplify users’ digital lives:

  • Recall important info: This function acts as an extended memory for the user. The system will be able to “remember” items from the past, such as old chats, screenshots, or specific data, bringing them back in relevant contexts. Imagine needing to retrieve a code sent by a friend months ago while making a purchase: the phone could automatically suggest it without forcing you to search through conversations.
  • Fill out forms easily: One of the most tedious aspects of web browsing is filling out repetitive forms. The new One UI will learn from data entered previously on different platforms to automatically fill future fields. At launch, this feature should support apps and websites such as Expedia, Trip, Doordash, and Market Kurly, promising to save valuable time during bookings or online orders.
  • Get things done quickly: Perhaps the most futuristic feature, this function analyzes what is on the screen to suggest the next most logical action. A practical example? If you receive a message on WhatsApp or Facebook containing a geographic location, Now Nudges will allow you to jump directly to navigation on Google Maps with a single tap. Similarly, if the system detects text in a foreign language on the screen, it will gently nudge you toward starting instant translation.

The intelligence of One UI 8.5 will not be limited to system apps. Leaks confirm that these features will work in synergy with major messaging and social media apps, including Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, delivering a smooth and interconnected user experience.

To see these novelties in action we will have to wait for the Galaxy S26 launch, expected for February or March 2026. However, the most impatient enthusiasts might get a glimpse of the future as early as the end of this year, when Samsung should open the Beta program for the One UI 8.5, allowing to test in advance how our smartphone is about to become, in effect, much smarter.
