The latest versions of WhatsApp Beta hide various references to the possibility of reserving a username before the debut of this feature. The renowned messaging platform will introduce a username-based system to accompany phone numbers, a feature already present for some time in Telegram and which offers greater privacy.
The previous Android WhatsApp beta version (2.25.28.12) and the more recent one (2.25.28.14) show traces of an option to reserve a username ahead of the official launch of the new feature. This is a very useful development, as it will allow you to secure your preferred username in advance.
Currently this is a feature unearthed within the Android beta version. It has not yet been implemented but will appear in one of the upcoming updates. However the WABetaInfo team has published some images showing how it works:
