OnePlus 16: Production kicks off with a 9,000 mAh high-capacity battery

Despite the end of the journey in Europe and the United States, OnePlus continues to churn out news — even if currently limited to mid-range and budget segments. In the company’s plans there is also a new flagship, and now it seems that Pete Lau’s company has given the production phase the go-ahead: here is what we can expect from OnePlus 16, according to the latest rumors.

OnePlus 16 will be the Chinese brand’s first flagship Battery Phone

Details come from the usual Digital Chat Station, an insider on the Chinese social network Weibo. The flagship prototype of OnePlus would be almost complete, enough to kick off a first trial production: in this phase we would be dealing with the final device, so design and specifications should not change.

The leaker “confirms” what was reported earlier: OnePlus 16 will be the company’s first flagship model equipped with a 9,000 mAh battery.

Specifically, it would be a dual 4,390 mAh cells, with a total capacity of 8,780 mAh, 33.11 Wh and 7.54 V. The device would feature wired fast charging support of 100W; the insider does not mention wireless charging, which had appeared in past leaks.

Design and specifications leak

According to the most recent rumors, the next OnePlus 16 is not expected to introduce radical design changes. The look shouldn’t change, but the front would host a display with a refreshed aesthetic, with borders under 1 mm, for an almost all-screen experience.

The launch is planned for October while the specs would target high-end with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro.

Among other features also an OLED display of 6.78″ diagonal with a refresh rate of 185 Hz and a 200 MP camera (but it’s not clear whether it will be the main sensor or the telephoto lens, leaks are conflicting).
