Official Pixel Tag: the new tracker takes on Samsung and Apple

The presentation of the Pixel 11 and of Watch 5 also held a small surprise: Google has officially entered the smart tracker market with Pixel Tag, a device designed to help locate objects such as keys, wallets and luggage by leveraging Android’s Find Hub network.

The tracker will be available on November 11, priced at $29 per unit; unfortunately, there are currently no details for Italy.

Pixel Tag supports Bluetooth 6.0+ and Ultra Wideband, technology that enables more precise tracking when you are near the lost object. The feature can show both the direction to follow and the exact distance from the tracker. It also has a built-in speaker, useful for making it ring when it is within Bluetooth range.

For longer distances, Find Hub comes into play, leveraging the network of Android devices to locate the device. The tracker can also be used with Pixel Watch, and via Pixel Buds compatible with Gemini, you can use a voice command to make it ring.

Pixel Tag includes alerts for forgotten items, so it notifies you when you move away from something the tracker is attached to.

There are also protections against unwanted tracking: if a smartphone detects an unknown tag moving with the user, it automatically shows a warning and provides instructions to make the device ring and locate it.

The device measures 46.1 x 28 x 5.4 mm and weighs 11.8 grams, with a polycarbonate and stainless steel case, in the sole color Fog. The IP67 certification guarantees protection from dust and immersion up to 1 meter for up to 30 minutes.

The tracker uses a replaceable button battery, with a stated autonomy of over a year. It is compatible with Android smartphones from version 9 onward and can also be managed via Pixel Watch.

Google Pixel Tag will be available from November 11 at a price of $29 for a single device, while the four-unit bundle will cost $99. As noted at the outset, there are currently no details on possible availability in Italy.
