Honor’s futuristic smartphone has made a brief appearance at the 28th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) in the role of official partner for mobile photography. What better occasion to showcase its capabilities in a cinematic-quality video? This is a fairly interesting preview since Honor Robot Phone is not a concept but a real device that will be on sale in the coming months.
The video published for the Shanghai Film Festival showcases the phone’s potential in handling cinematic video portraits with intense tonalities, smooth color transitions and impeccable stabilization. The scene’s protagonists are the members of the SIFF jury, captured by the Honor Robot Phone to bring to life an evocative and meticulously crafted video — simply using the phone.
The goal of the Chinese brand is to make advanced tools for creating professional photos and videos accessible directly via smartphone. A godsend for both more experienced users and those just starting out, but especially for professionals seeking a portable solution capable of producing high-quality stills and clips.
The highlight of the Honor Robot Phone is its robotic arm with an integrated optical stabilization system. The gimbal, made from titanium alloy, is the smallest in the field but capable of delivering stable moving shots.
All of this is enhanced by AI-powered imaging capabilities, such as intelligent tracking (which keeps moving subjects in focus).
Among other news, we also have the collaboration with ARRI, a German brand specializing in professional cinema equipment. For now the partnership will focus on software, with ARRI’s color management and tone mapping systems. In addition to Robot Phone, future models in the Magic 9 series will benefit from these improvements.
