On 12 August the launch event dedicated to the Pixel 11 series and the new Watch 5 will take place, but these won’t be the only new features coming to Big G.
Based on what emerged in the past days, the event will also be the stage for the debut of Google Pixel Tag, marking Big G’s entry into a new product category (already explored extensively by Samsung and Apple).
If there was any uncertainty before, things are now becoming more tangible, with a “confirmation” of the release of this novelty and a few more details about the price.
Latest rumors come from billbil-kun, a fairly reliable insider when it comes to the French and European market in general. The leaker claims we will see the new Google Pixel Tag at the presentation on 12 August, another “confirmation” of previous rumors.
However, he also adds the price: the locator will be priced at €34.9, referring to France (but it is very likely that this is the figure for the entire Europe). Details on any launch offers are missing, as well as the start date of sales.
The device will be available in the only color Light Fog, characterized by a white shell. At this price it positions itself as a direct rival to Apple’s latest AirTag 2, sold at the same figure.
According to the first leaked details, Google Pixel Tag will offer support for Ultra-Wideband (UWB), also present on Apple’s solution, which allows for higher accuracy in locating the device.
There will be an integrated speaker to emit an audible signal near the gadget, as well as support for the Fast Pair protocol. Details on battery life are missing, perhaps the most important aspect for this category of devices.
Clearly the new Tag is based on Google’s Find Hub network, a platform that works similarly to Apple’s Find My (but in this case leverages Android phones).
Samsung should also launch a new locator, but for now there are no official confirmations. However, digging into the manufacturer’s software, several clues about the existence of SmartTag 3 complete with images, that would reveal the possible design.
It remains to be seen what will be announced, but the most plausible hypothesis is September, already at the center of leaks as the probable release window for Galaxy S26 FE and Tab S12.
