Redmi Note 17 Pro withstands Xiaomi’s endurance tests — extreme and bizarre

Xiaomi has announced the release date for the Redmi Note 17 series (in China): the event will take place on July 14 and, to tease Mi Fans, the brand has already revealed design and some details. Surely there will be more additions as we approach the big date; in the meantime, here are some videos showing Redmi Note 17 Pro in endurance tests that put both the display and the waterproof chassis to the test.

In the short clips published on official social channels, Xiaomi shows the level of resistance of the new Redmi Note 17 Pro thanks to a series of extreme tests. As confirmed by Lei Jun’s company, the mid-range features a display with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection, a solution typically associated with flagships.

The result is a panel capable of withstanding scratches and impacts, and the test comes in the form of a bizarre test: 12 Note 17 Pro devices were mounted on a robotic arm to act as goalkeepers in a soccer field. The smartphones are hit by numerous shots (quite violent), remaining intact.

The other top feature of the mid-range concerns dust and water resistance: the device is rated IP69K, the maximum rating – capable of withstanding high-pressure water jets. And here comes the second test: in the video, the poor Note 17 Pro is hit by a powerful jet at a pressure of 4 MPa.

This is a particularly high value, capable of shattering glass panels and even “pushing” a car. Even in this case the phone takes the hits without flinching: the display is intact and everything seems to be working properly even after such stress.

Note that also Redmi Note 15 Pro and 15 Pro+ Chinese versions debuted with the same rating; however, in the transition to the Global version, launched in Italy, the resistance rating dropped to IP68. It remains to be seen whether Redmi Note 17 Pro international will meet the same fate or if our variant will also be IP69K.

Anyway, there will still be a wait: the China presentation is scheduled for July 14, but for the Global release it may be necessary to wait at least until January 2027.
