Samsung Galaxy A18, images and specs: how the next budget phone will change

The current generation of Samsung’s mid-range devices is now complete: first we saw the launch of A17 4G and 5G, while March brought with it the siblings A57 and A37. The lineup concluded at the end of June, with the debut of A27, and now — after a handful of weeks — the future of the family is already in view. OnLeaks has shown the alleged design of Samsung Galaxy A18 with a series of renders, along with some previews of the technical side.

The device has already been spotted in June, or at least its model number (SM-A185F, the 4G version) and the software. The next-generation budget phone should debut in August and make its appearance with One UI 9 and Android 17 on board.

The latest news comes from OnLeaks and reveals the design and some basic features of the phone. The upcoming Samsung Galaxy A18 will debut in both 4G and 5G versions, as already happened with the current Galaxy A17.

Esthetically, everything seems almost unchanged, but upon closer look it is possible to notice a camera module slightly more refined, looking less cheap. Inside the usual vertical capsule there would be a triple sensor, perhaps again 50 + 5 + 2 MP (with OIS, ultra-wide and macro).

The front face doesn’t seem to change at all, with an AMOLED 6.7″ diagonal panel and an Infinity-U notch for the selfie camera. The chassis would measure 164.4 x 77.8 x 7.84 mm, thus almost the same dimensions as the Galaxy A17 (164.4 x 77.9 x 7.5 mm).

Changes on the chipset side are expected, at least for the 5G version: the current model sports the Exynos 1330 while the next Galaxy A18 should have a Snapdragon SoC. The 4G variant would continue to rely on MediaTek, but in this case too the identity of the chip is not known.

The 22 July will host the Unpacked event dedicated to foldables and wearables; the new budget phone of the A series, according to rumors so far, should arrive during the month of August.
