POCO X8 and M8 Power: have the new Redmi models revealed all the novelties?

With the debut of the Redmi Note 17 series, the doors open to the usual endless Xiaomi rebrands, with a whole lineup of models coming in certain markets — under Redmi or with the POCO brand. The latest rumors point precisely to the latter, specifically to the future POCO X8 and POCO M8 Power: even though these are unreleased smartphones, it’s as if we already know them quite well (at least according to the most recent leaks).

The new Redmi Note 17 and Note 17 Pro will arrive in Global version and this is a given; however both smartphones should also live on under the POCO brand, at least for some markets.

The base device, Redmi Note 17, should also appear as POCO M8 Power: the ‘confirmations’ would come from clues inside the HyperOS code and through the BIS Indian agency certifications. The phone is expected to arrive without any cuts compared to the Chinese counterpart, preserving the 8,000 mAh battery. Here are the main specifications:

  • Certification: IP65
  • Display: Flat OLED 7 in Full HD (2,396 x 1,080 pixels) with refresh rate 120 Hz, touch sampling at 240 Hz, PWM at 2,160 Hz, 1,800 nit brightness, 8-bit color
  • Security: under-display fingerprint reader (optical)
  • SoC: Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 4, 4 nm Samsung
  • Battery: 8,000 mAh
  • Charging: 45W, reverse 22.5W
  • Camera: dual 50 MP (f/1.8) with secondary sensor
  • Selfie camera: 8 MP (f/2.0)
  • Operating system: Android 16 with Xiaomi HyperOS 3

Moving to POCO X8, this would be the Global twin of Redmi Note 17 Pro. Most of the specifications should not change, except for the battery: no 9,000 mAh as the Chinese model, but a unit of 8,340 mAh.

  • Certification: IP66/IP68/IP69/IP69K
  • Display: Flat AMOLED 6.85 in 1.5K (2,772 x 1,280 pixels) with 120 Hz refresh rate, touch sampling at 240 Hz (instant 3,200 Hz), 3,500 nit peak brightness (from 1 nit), PWM at 3,840 Hz and DC Dimming, 12-bit color, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection
  • Security: under-display fingerprint reader (optical)
  • SoC: Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, 4 nm Samsung
  • Battery: 8,340 mAh
  • Charging: 67W, reverse 22.5W
  • Camera: dual 50 + 2 MP (f/1.8-2.4) with depth of field
  • Selfie camera: 8 MP (f/2.0)
  • Operating system: Android 16 with Xiaomi HyperOS 3

Additionally the leaker Kacper Skrzypek provides a clarification: the POCO-branded device will have a dual camera with a 2 MP secondary sensor, while Redmi Note 17 Pro 5G Global will mount an 8 MP ultra-wide-angle.

The same insider has revealed the differences between the batteries of the Chinese models and those of the Note 17 Global series. Regarding the international debut there is still some uncertainty: rumor has it for the month of October (well ahead of schedule, since the Note 15 Global lineup was announced in January 2026). However the release is expected by the end of the year, at least for the Indian market.
