Xiaomi Pad 8S Pro will be the first tablet with XRING O3, the new in-house SoC

In Xiaomi’s future there is a new line of premium tablets, but Lei Jun’s company hasn’t finished with the current series yet. An insider has revealed a few details about the upcoming Xiaomi Pad 8S Pro, a flagship that will continue on the predecessor’s path with solid specifications and a homegrown chipset developed in-house by the brand.

Given the timelines of the upcoming flagships, it’s very likely that the device’s launch is imminent, and perhaps it will be in good company.

Xiaomi Pad 8S Pro coming: what we know about the next tablet with a proprietary chip

Xiaomi Pad 8

Last year, the Chinese brand unveiled XRING O1 to the world, its new proprietary chipset – which comes years after the first (and not very successful) experiments. A top-tier solution, built on 3 nm and featuring a deca-core architecture and a Cortex-X925 main core at 3.9 GHz, mounted on smartphones and tablets – which have remained exclusive to China.

And now Xiaomi Pad 7S Pro is set to receive a successor equipped with the same display but with a larger battery and a new SoC.

Display, battery and cameras

Based on what has emerged, the tablet would be equipped with a screen LCDda 12.5″ diagonal with a 3.2K resolution and a high refresh rate, probably at 144 Hz. Charging would remain unchanged, only wired at 120W, but with a larger battery – from 10,610 mAh to well 12,000 mAh.

The camera setup would include a dual 50 + 2 MP module and a 32 MP selfie camera.

XRING O3

Obviously the real star would be the chip XRING O3, the next SoC developed by Xiaomi. The manufacturing process should remain at 3 nm but an increase in power would be expected, up to 4.05 GHz maximum clock frequency.

Additionally there are rumors of a GPU up to 1.5 GHz, with a 25% increase over the current generation (1.2 GHz).

Launch and other surprises

The month of September is dedicated to the Xiaomi 18 series and surely the Pad 9 lineup will also be announced. Consequently, August seems to be the perfect time to present the Xiaomi Pad 8S Pro and the new SoC from the XRING family.

In addition to the tablet from the S family, the debut of Xiaomi’s new foldable is also expected, already appearing in certifications and live photos. There seems to be confusion about the device name — among Xiaomi 17 Fold, MIX Fold 5 or even MIX Fold 6 — but one thing is certain: the foldable should be the brand’s first in wide format.
